The shadows, it’s where all the things we don’t want to think about live. The boogie man, killer clowns, murders, tragedies, they all lurk just beyond the light of our lives. Cause in the light, we feel safe. But in the shadows, our hearts race just a little bit faster.

Every page of history has a shadow. There is something that goes unspoken among families, friends, and even communities. Things they don’t want to be reminded of something that happened because of how it makes them feel.

But if we ignore the shadows, we will never understand everything that helps to shape our lives, our communities, and our state.

So, here at Oklahoma Shadows, I want to look at the notorious things that may not cast our state in the best light. Some of what I’ll publish are historical events that shaped our state. Other topics will include true crime murders that were so notorious in this state that they have never been forgotten.

In the coming weeks and months, we will begin our deep dive into the state of Oklahoma, and maybe we can learn a little about our history and stop being scared of what lurks in the shadows.
